CBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern 2026

CBSE Class 10 board exam is conducted in February-March annually. Each subject: 80 marks external board + 20 marks internal assessment. Total 100 marks per subject across 5 core subjects.

Subjects

Hindi / English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Second Language (Hindi / Sanskrit / French etc.). Optional subjects: Computer Applications, Home Science, etc.

Internal assessment

20 marks split into: Periodic Tests (10), Notebook Submission (5), Subject Enrichment Activity (5). Different subjects define enrichment differently — Science has lab practicals, SS has project work, English has listening-speaking tests.

Answer format

CBSE rewards structured bullet-pointed answers with headings. Clean diagrams. PYQ-oriented questions (many questions are repeated from last 5-10 years).
